So I'm sitting here at work realizing I'm not going to be here for much longer. Like 4 days. Less than that technicly. Ok, well...I'm not sure how to feel about that. I'm sort of a mixed bag of emotions: excited, scared, contemplative, nervous, closed off, even a little ashamed. Whats that about?
On to some fun stuff.
I'm getting more and more excited about the release of 4th edition D&D and the consaquent start of Steven and my's new campaign. I think we have some great ideas. I must say Steve is the driving force with his ability write so well. He's like the dart board and I the dart thrower. I just throw ideas at him and see where they land.
We ran our actual first game together last Wendesday. A thrown together idea of a Star Wars game, the premise of which Steve came up with and we put together in about an hour. I was more along there for the ride as he knows much more about Star Wars than I do. I like Star Wars, but Steve loves it. The game I thought went pretty well. I ran small section of it, of which I thought was the low part of the game as I didn't ahve any ideas so I merely tested the system and their characters with some endurance rolls under a hot desert sun. I quickly threw it back to Steve and he was able to make the game interesting again. I got to help him with NPC's (which I think I is my strongest assest) and we did some combat towards the end. Finaly I had a good idea at the end playing of Steve's free style play and thats where we stopped. It will be an interesting first few sessions for the 4th ed campaign as we all learn a new system and setting, and play with two DMs instead of one. Intersting indeed.
Only two players showed up, which might have been for the best but for the fact that it actually went well! Funny thing is I actually am looking forward to that game than running Ptolus again.
Ptolus, the bitter sweet setting in which I can do no good. ::sigh::
I think my next blog will be on role playing theory. Invigorating, I know!
